Thoughts for the day

So last night I'm standing in the kitchen eating an apple. As is her typical practice, the dog sidles in. She stands there watching me... waiting for some food to drop. Perhaps this is because I have a bad habit of feeding her table scraps -- grilled chicken, usually -- which leads her to expect snacks whenever I'm grazing.

As I stare at the dog, I think: "What a great life that dog has. Go outside and run around the yard chasing deer. Trap moles. Get fed primo food. Sleep anytime and anywhere..."

The dog must be thinking: "What a great life that man has. Go anywhere, anytime - walk outside whenever he wants. Jump in the car and drive places. Eat great food - and chow down anytime and anywhere..."
