Jimmy Carter Threat Level Advisory System

Carter: Iran a 'rational' nation; U.S. should establish friendly ties
Iran's FNA is reporting that former US President Jimmy Carter is urging Washington to resume friendly ties with Iran, a country he calls "rational."
Speaking at the Hay Festival yesterday, Carter suggested that the US should also provide nuclear power technology and fuel to Iran "as a show of goodwill.""What happens if, in three years' time, Iran has a nuclear weapon? I'm not sure that is going to happen, but if it does, what do we do? They are rational people like all of us in this room. Do they want to commit suicide? I would guess not. So what we have to do is talk with them now and say to them we want to be their friends..."
"The United States must let Iran know that we want to give them fuel and everything they need for a non-military nuclear program. Twenty-five years ago we cut off trading with Iran. We've got to resume trading to show Iran we are friends..."
Carter also criticized President George Bush, saying it was a "serious mistake and terrible departure" from the actions of previous US presidents not to engage with countries with which they differed.
"The president of the administration in Washington is the first one to have ever done this and I think we close off ourselves from any sort of rational accommodation of the views of other parties in order to reach out on major goals..."
Carter makes Neville Chamberlain look like Genghis Kahn.

Carter "a bigot... [who] came back with bloody hands"
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations is a bit exercised over Jimmy Carter's pointless pilgrimage to Hamas-istan.
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday called former President Jimmy Carter "a bigot" for meeting with the leader of the militant Hamas movement in Syria."[He] ...went to the region with soiled hands and came back with bloody hands after shaking the hand of Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Hamas," Ambassador Dan Gillerman told a luncheon briefing for reporters.
The ambassador's harsh words for Carter came days after the ex-president met with Mashaal for seven hours in Damascus to negotiate a cease-fire with Gaza's Hamas rulers. Carter then called Mashaal on Monday to try to get him to agree to a one-month truce without conditions, but the Hamas leader rejected the idea.The ambassador called last weekend's encounter "a very sad episode in American history... [and it was a shame to see Carter] turn into what I believe to be a bigot."
...Gillerman said Hamas is armed and trained by Iran, whose president once called for Israel to be "wiped off the map."
"The real danger, the real problem is not the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; the real threat is Iran," he said.

Hamas: an insignificant detail Carter failed to mention
On Monday, ex-president Jimmy Carter announced that he had set the stage for peace in the Middle East by securing a promise from Hamas to recognize Israel. He failed to mention, however, that the terrorists' offer had a term limit.
[Following a] visit [to] the Hamas leadership in Damascus, Carter enthusiastically stated that Hamas leader Khaled Mashal had told him the leading Palestinian faction was prepared to accept a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank, and to recognize Israel's sovereignty on the rest of the territory west of the Jordan River... Carter went on to imply that the only remaining obstacle to peace was Israel's refusal to talk with Hamas.
What the former president left out, and what Mashal revealed when speaking to reporters in Damascus later that day was that Hamas, in return for full Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders, would only implicitly recognize the Jewish state and would only halt its armed struggle for the liberation of all "Palestine" for a period of 10 years.
As dedicated Muslims, Hamas adheres to the dictates of their prophet Mohammed, which state that Muslims may agree to truces with superior infidel forces, but only temporarily in order to give the Muslims time to gain enough strength to complete their conquest.
I'm sure Carter just forgot to mention it.

Carter tries to mainstream Hamas

This article says it all.
It puts a cherry on the top of a career that includes a horrific record as president: the human rights disasters occasioned by his failed policies in Iran and Nicaragua. The fall of the Shah and the rise of the Mullahs in Iran -- directly attributable to Carter - provided the central bastion for Islamofascism leading up to 9/11. His failure to support the Shah also emboldened the Soviets, who rolled into Afghanistan in 1979, correctly figuring that Carter would do nothing but bloviate using a whiny drawl.

Many criticized Carter's decision to meet with Dr. Josef Mengele in 1943. Carter, however, defended his actions. "I think it is absolutely crucial that in the final and dreamed-about and prayed-for peace agreement for Europe that the Gestapo be involved and that the SS will be involved," Carter told a Zyklon-B conference outside Auschwitz.
Carter aims to get Mengele to agree to a "peaceful resolution of differences, both with the Jews and also with Catholics, Gypsies and Gays."

Jimmy Carter wants (another) meeting with Hamas
Barack Obama's church isn't the only unlikely American institution to grant a forum to Hamas terrorists.
Jimmy Carter still intends to meet with Hamas leaders in Syria.Former President Jimmy Carter is reportedly preparing an unprecedented meeting with the leader of Hamas, an organization that the U.S. government considers one of the leading terrorist threats in the world. ...Deanna Congileo, Carter’s press secretary... did not deny that the former president is considering visiting Meshal.
...“It’s about par for the course from President Carter, demonstrating a lack of judgment typical of what he does," said John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. "To go to Syria to visit Hamas at this point is just an ill-timed, ill-advised decision on his part... When you put the prestige of a former president of the United States in a meeting with one of its terrorist leaders, you’re giving it a legitimacy and currency it never had,” said Bolton.
But Ibrahim Hooper, communications director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a non-profit advocacy group, said Carter's efforts demonstrate he's a true partner in peace.
Not to worry. It turns out such a meeting really isn't unprecedented. Carter admits to ABC News that he's been visiting with Hamas leaders -- in secret -- for quite some time.
I've been meeting with Hamas leaders for years," Carter said..."I think that it's very important that at least someone meet with the Hamas leaders to express their views...
The State Department says it has twice advised Carter against meeting with Hamas, which has ruthlessly murdered scores of Israeli and American civilians.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government has officially told Carter to go pound sand.
[Olmert says] his schedule won't permit a meeting with the notorious terrorist apologist. An aide says "Draw your own conclusions."
Carter must be stopped -- by threat of prosecution, if necessary -- from granting "Presidential credibility" to an organization of murderous thugs who have a single goal for the Middle East. That goal is stated quite clearly in their charter: genocide -- out-and-out ethnic cleansing.
This time Carter has gone too far.
Update: Carter indicates he will not endorse a candidate until the Democratic National Convention. This begs the question: will Hamas leaders get seats to the Presidential Box similar to the ones Michael Moore received in 2004?

Carter violates the rules of the ex-Presidents Club -- again
Jimmy Carter violated the ex-Presidents Club rules yet again, criticizing the Bush administration for the umpteenth time -- this time for excessive "secrecy".
If there is an afterlife, I'm guessing Carter won't be participating in this card game. Perhaps he, Idi Amin and Pol Pot can drum up a fourth on the banks of the River Cocytus.
